galib on AIX using xlc ?

Hi,
  I got a copy of galib. I have an AIX machine with
only xlc as the C++ compiler. Anyone have any
experience using this. I tried to compile but i get
errors. 
  I guess the compiler options etc vary. Would 
appreciate any help from persons who have tried this
before.
