Hello all,
Members of Editors are now invited to the Lynda Campus presentation this Thursday that I mentioned at the meeting today. Please RSVP if you plan to attend, so that Mark – Manager of the IS&T Training Team – can make sure there are enough seats.
Mark has also created an account for Editors so that you can try out Lynda Campus before its official launch at MIT in January.
Please see the email below for details.
Regards,
Robyn

Subject: New Lynda Campus
Good afternoon,
IS&T is preparing to deliver a new release of lynda.com<http://lynda.com>, called Lynda Campus, to the MIT community. We are aiming for January 5, 2012.
This email is meant to provide you with information about this release and to give you an opportunity to test drive it and provide feedback.
NEW LYNDA.COM<http://LYNDA.COM> CAMPUS
As many of you know, IS&T offers lynda.com’s online training free of charge to MIT students, faculty, and staff. lynda.com’s award-winning catalog of over 1,200 courses covers everything from Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, to web publishing, Drupal, design, and video. Each course is taught by an industry expert and consists of short videos that can be watched and replayed at any time.
Because MIT users presently authenticate ‘anonymously’ to lynda.com<http://lynda.com>, they cannot effectively track and manage their lynda.com<http://lynda.com> training. The new lynda.com<http://lynda.com> configuration, called Lynda Campus, will solve that problem by enabling individual learners to:
- View their lynda.com<http://lynda.com> training history at the course and module level
- Create and use bookmarks for courses and modules of interest
- Receive, print, and email Certificates of Completion for courses they have viewed in entirety
When we implement Lynda Campus, MIT users will continue to use the http://lynda.mit.edu URL to authenticate into lynda.com<http://lynda.com> via Touchstone. The updated authentication will provide lynda.com<http://lynda.com> with the person’s first name, last name, and email – this information establishes the person’s unique lynda.com<http://lynda.com> profile. Users will not have the option to access lynda.com<http://lynda.com> anonymously. When you arrive at Lynda.com<http://Lynda.com>, you will see your name at the head of the Home Page and a My Training menu option. Each user’s training history will be blank at first but will become populated with usage. To see what the Lynda Campus experience is like, you may attend a preview or take a test drive.
PREVIEW DEMO OF NEW LYNDA CAMPUS
IS&T will hold a Lynda Campus walkthrough demo session on Thursday, Dec 8th, from 12noon – 1pm in the E17-121 Learning Center. There’s no registration required, but if you think you’d like to come, please RSVP just so I’ll know!
TAKE NEW LYNDA FOR A TEST DRIVE
I have created an account for the Help Desk to use to see the new Lynda Campus (when this is in production, users will not have to login).
1. Go to http://www.lynda.com (this is the generic URL for the trial – in production, we will use the MIT URL)
2. Click the Login button
3. Enter a username and password (they are case sensitive).
Username: MITeditors
Password: lynda123
if you happen to login while someone else is already using the account, you will receive a message saying the username is already logged in. Cancel out and return later. If you would like your own individual trial account, please let me know, and I will create one for you.
Once you are logged in, you will see the personalized My Training and information at the top right of the window. Please explore!
Thanks, and let me know if you have any questions, issues, concerns, suggestions.
