development program.

RESPONSIBILITIES: In collaboration with the Director of Development,

edits, and oversees production of library promotional and development
materials such as press kits and releases, newsletters, news stories,
development brochures, and exhibits. S/he selects designers, graphic
artists, photographers, editors, and writers for these materials,
coordinates and directs contractors' work, and facilitates the
process from pre-production to distribution. In collaboration with
the Director of Development, s/he supports the discovery of
foundation funding opportunities and sources, the creation of
proposals to foundations and individual prospects with logistical
support, writing assistance, editorial expertise and by providing
"boilerplate" information about the Libraries and the Institute. With
the Director of Development, s/he maintains effective, productive
working relationships with Foundation Relations. In concert with
other development staff, the incumbent participates in the planning,
coordinating, and publicity of library promotion and resource
development related events.

QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor's degree in Communications,
Public Relations, or related field. Three years experience and
demonstrated success in planning and implementing communications
strategies and programs, preferably in a higher education
environment. Superior oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Proven
ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of
library and university staff, vendors, and customers and to

exhibit creativity and enthusiasm in leading communications
initiatives. Preferred: Master's degree in Library Science.
