[Dspace-general] SMTP server causing internal error when trying to register new user

Yes, absolutely. The system will try to email the new user upon
registration.

Is there a mail server running on port 25 on localhost? If not, that's
the problem. You need to point the config at a real SMTP server
otherwise it will break.
