HP Labs has an opening for a research scientist to work at HP Labs in

The DSpace digital repository system captures, stores, indexes,
preserves, and distributes digital research material.   DSpace is an
open source project that was initiated as a research project by HP
Laboratories and MIT Libraries and is now in use at many institutions
worldwide. 

HP Laboratories is HP's corporate research organisation and employs over
600 research staff worldwide. More than 150 research staff are employed
in HP's European Research Centre in Bristol, UK, working in long term
research on behalf of HP in many different areas including digital media
management, security, grid computing, mobility, and digital imaging.  

Within the Digital Media Systems Research Department at HP Labs we have
an opening for a research scientist to continue our work on the DSpace
project. Responsibilities will include working with DSpace projects
world wide, developing specific modules for DSpace for these projects,
working with the DSpace user community, and participating in the DSpace
Technical Committee to further develop the DSpace platform. 

Candidates should have a background in Computer Science or related
discipline, have  a good grasp of software architecture, be fluent
developers in Java and related open source technologies, and have the
ability to develop code for and manage open source projects. The
successful candidate will probably be familiar with the DSpace platform
and/or other open source digital library projects and have an interest
in technologies in the  field of digital content repositories and
digital content preservation. 

This will be a one year contract position based in HP Labs in Bristol,
UK, and would be suitable for an individual who is perhaps completing or
has completed a postgraduate degree and is seeking a period of work in
an industrial research laboratory.
