[ASA-Official] ASA Orientation Midway Assignments and LEF/ARCADE Application Deadline

*Dear Student Group Officers,

Please take note of the following announcements:

(1) ASA Midway Assignments
(2) Summer LEF/ARCADE Deadline

(1) ASA Midway Assignments

Initial table assignments for the Fall 2012 ASA Midway are now available.
The Midway will take place on Friday, August 31, from 3-5pm. Groups can
arrive to set up beginning at 2pm, and must arrive by 2:40pm. If you have
not checked in by 2:40, your table will be re-assigned to someone on the
waitlist. Individuals who have received an ASA-sponsored early return must
attend the Midway and check in with ASA, or they will be required to pay
for the return.

If your group can no longer attend or perform at the Midway, please let us
know via email at asa-midway at mit.edu at least 24 hours in advance. Failure
to cancel within 24 hours will result in a $25 fine; failure to cancel by
the start of check-in will result in a $75 fine. Groups that leave before
the conclusion of the Midway without permission from the ASA will incur the
same $75 fine.

Please remember that no external speakers may be used at the booths. The
ASA board reserves the right to request that volume be reduced or sound
turned off if it becomes a problem for neighboring groups or performances.
For safety reasons, please remember to stay at or by your booth at all
times. Do not block any entrances or aisles or hand out flyers at the
doorway.

(2) LEF/ARCADE deadline Sunday, September 2, 2012

The deadline to submit applications to the Large Event Fund (LEF) and/or
the Assisting Recurring Cultural And Diversity Events (ARCADE) fund is
Sunday, September 2 at 11:59 pm. This deadline is for events occurring
between October 1, 2012, and December 31, 2012. The application and more
information about the funds are available online:

You are encouraged to meet with someone from the Student Activities Office
to discuss your application, particularly if it is for a new event or you
are making substantial changes to your event.  You can contact Leah Flynn (
laflynn at mit.edu) and Alana Hamlett (ahamlett at mit.edu) about scheduling an
appointment.

You are also strongly encouraged to meet with the LEF/ARCADE board members
before submitting your application by attending our office hours or
scheduling an appointment.  This is particularly the case if you are
applying for a new event or an event that has not received funding from us
in the past.

Office hours will generally be held in the ASA Office, W20-401,
8:00pm-9:00pm on Tuesdays and 7:00pm-8:00pm on Thursdays, but please check

additional hours and cancellations before coming.
