Hey AAA!

As you're almost ready to register for classes, maybe keep this one in
mind! It's taught by Professor Vo and covers some interesting Asian
American issues prevalent in history. It's also a great HASS-H if you're
looking for one! Enjoy the rest of your IAP! :)

Spring 2012: LECTURE: MW 2pm-3:30pm, Room 14N-217

This interdisciplinary course covers the formation of Asian America, from
the history of anti-Asian U.S. legislation and mob violence to the Civil
Rights Movement of the 1960s and the current transnational and diasporic
exchanges. We discuss such key periods as World War II and the internment
of Japanese and Japanese Americans and Canadians; the Cold War and the Red
Scare; and the Vietnam War and the Southeast Asian immigrant waves. We
contextualize our understanding of culture with history readings to situate
our interpretations of culture within their relevant political, social and
economic contexts.
