[Tango-A] NA-C: DJs and aspiring DJs invited to provide music to First Milonga of the New Year - gift certificate to "winner"

Inviting
DJs of Argentine Tango Music to the first Chicago DJ “play-off” - Monday,
January 1, 2007   7:30 p – 11:30 a at the first milonga of the New Year at Mariposa  ( 1813
  W Byron St. , Chicago , IL ). The milonga will start at 7:00 p and continue until  1:00 a, but we are limiting the DJ-playoff to a shorter period to allow adequate time for voting.
 

  
 



We
will play the first 7-8 accepted
entrants in approximately half-hour segments during the evening.  Each
DJ will be randomly assigned a unique
identifying symbol which will be displayed on the DJ booth while your music
is playing and on the ballot. On the ballot,
we will print a brief (maximum 5 sentences) description of your DJ-ing philosophy or other
non-identifying information. Voting will
take place at 11:30 p (altho’ dancers who leave earlier also may vote). The
winner, who need not be present, will receive a relevant gift certificate (e.g., to Zival’s). 
 

  
 

All working or aspiring DJs are
eligible and welcome.  This is your chance to test the popularity of your
regular mix or the dance-ability of music you might not have tried at your
milonga or to put together a selection of music you’d like to hear played at a
milonga.
 

  
 

To enter (i.e., the
fine print):
 

Let Phoebe know you’re interested by emailing
     her at TangoLadyChicago at yahoo.com.Compile a CD with
     approximately 30-40 minutes of
     music in 3 tandas, of 3-4
     songs, each separated by a 30-45 second Cortina. Each tanda should be
     identified as Tango, Vals or Milonga rhythm; alternative music will be
     accepted. Each CD should have 1 or 2 “tango”, and 1 “Vals” and/or 1
     “Milonga sets (e.g., TTV, TTM, TVM).Each submission
     must have complete identifying
     information of the music included, in order, along with the name and
     contact information of the “DJ” as well as the DJ’s philosophy statement. Please
     indicate if you want to remain anonymous should you win.When complete, email Phoebe again to arrange
     delivery. We will accept CDs on a
     first come basis. The final deadline will be at milonga Nuestro Tango
     on Friday, December 29, 2006.There
     is no entry fee. Your CD will
     be returned to you.We reserve the right to ask you to modify your
     submission if a previously received CD has the same music, for example.
