[OWW-SC] usernames

Why no period?  I *think* the period is typical when the letter is an
abbreviation.  See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_name

Also, I think the period is typically used in author lists on papers which
is why I would lean towards including it.

I can be convinced otherwise ... I just think these issues should be hashed
out before we starting changing usernames.
