Why no period? I *think* the period is typical when the letter is an abbreviation. See <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_name">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_name</a><br><br>Also, I think the period is typically used in author lists on papers which is why I would lean towards including it.
