Good afternoon.
Today Information Services and Technology is announcing that users of
Intel-based Macintoshes, especially those in departments, labs and
centers, should use Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) 5.2.3 for backing up
their machines. This is the recommended interim solution until Tivoli
releases a new version of TSM, which is not expected until late this
year or early 2007.
Known Issues
------------
Scheduled backups are not available when using TSM 5.2.3 on Intel-
based Macintoshes--backups must be done manually. See "TSM 5.2.3 for
Mac OS X: Back Up Files and Folders Manually" [1] for instructions on
backing up manually.

System Requirements
-------------------
IS&T recommends that users wishing to use TSM 5.2.3 on an Intel-based
Macintosh should be running Mac OS X 10.4.4 or later; Mac OS X 10.4.7
is recommended. Because TSM 5.2.3 requires Rosetta--an operating
system component that translates PowerPC applications to run on Intel-
based Macs--IS&T recommends at least 1 GB of memory.
How to Obtain
-------------
TSM 5.2.3 can be downloaded from the MIT Software Download site [2].

Where to get help
-----------------
Documentation for using TSM 5.2.3 on Intel-based Macintoshes is now
available [3], as well as an updated TSM 5.2.3 product page [4].
