RAK Week is a time dedicated to connecting members of the MIT community
through small acts of kindness. We hope to not only encourage people to
connect with each other, but also to connect with support resources on
campus. RAK Week is a fun, light-hearted week meant to encourage us to
support one another, because MIT is not a place one can handle alone.

We are currently accepting sign-ups to *help plan our annual Leadership
Conference*, to be held during Spring semester 2019:


   - *2 Co-Chairs:* Conference Co-Chairs lead the committee members, set
   the conference theme, and oversee all general planning of the conference.
   - *Event Leads:* Each conference has 4-5 Event Leads who each spearhead
   a single event (either an invited speaker, a panel, a workshop, etc.).
   - *Committee Members:* attend regular meetings, contribute to theme
   brainstorming, logistics, publicity, and volunteer during events.


*Please note that the conference will be scheduled during the week of April
22nd, 2019.*

Relationships: A Summit on Mentorship in Grad School and Beyond.* There

NE GWiSE is having its second annual Spring to Action event! This year it
is called "Roles and Relationships: A Summit on Mentorship in Grad School
and Beyond" and will be hosted by Harvard University. The goals are to help
schools identify different types of mentoring-related programs they can
implement, give them tools/resources to start them, help them improve
current programming, and decide how to measure their program's impact.

The day will include an inspiring keynote speaker, an exciting panel of
mentees talking about their experiences, a mixture of workshops, and an
optional mocktail hour for networking and socializing!

*The Women in STEM Database at MIT* (WiSDM <https://wisdm.mit.edu/>) is an
initiative designed to promote the visibility of women in our academic
community. The goal of WiSDM is to provide a curated searchable online
database of MIT women, making it easier to find talented and diverse
speakers for conference talks, panels, news stories, and outreach events.

WiSDM is currently building its database, and will include MIT faculty,
postdocs, research staff, and graduate students from all STEM fields.
Speaking opportunities are an incredibly effective way to engage with your
academic community, and contribute to your professional advancement. Make
your voice, your story, and your perspective a part of the conversation by
joining WiSDM today.

The global Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference aims to inspire and
educate data scientists, regardless of gender, and support women in the
field. This one-day technical conference provides an opportunity to hear
about the latest data science-related research in a number of domains,
learn how leading-edge companies are leveraging data science for success,
and connect with potential mentors, collaborators, and others in the field.

WIDS (Cambridge) will be hosted by Harvard IACS, MIT IDSS, Microsoft NERD
(in conjunction with WiDS Stanford).

We aim to improve how our communities navigate sex and relationships in
order to end sexual violence.

PLEASURE works on a model of culture change. We know that violence thrives
in a culture that accepts or is indifferent to bigotry. We seek to change
the environment and empower others to seek health and healthy relationships
of all kinds. We reject all forms of Racism, Sexism, Homophobia,
Transphobia and Identity-based hatred. We aim to help each student explore
and develop their own set of values and skills. As such, we strive for
inclusivity in our discussions, welcoming participants of all backgrounds
and perspectives.

and their handlers will be outside the Hayden Library in the area near
Killian Hall. No lines and no waiting!

We hope you will take a break from your studies to pet a dog and de-stress.

happiness; storytelling for career confidence; eating healthy on a budget;
and developing healthy financial behaviors.

Are you interested in diversity issues and/or the performing arts? *

An innovative new Arts and Education project, “Creating a Community for
Women Graduate Students in STEM,” led by MIT alums, pairs the work of an
NYC-based professional theater company with a diversity workshop. This
project was launched in New York City in 2018, sponsored by the Alfred P.
Sloan Foundation.

We are seeking Student Outreach Specialists for phase two of the project,
which will take place on the MIT campus in April 2019, sponsored by the MIT
School of Science. This is fun and enjoyable opportunity for outgoing and
friendly students to foster an additional network of support for students
in the MIT community, especially with regard to diversity and inclusion.
Your work will also help lay the groundwork for future programs of this
sort for students nationwide. Students will work closely with our team,
based in NYC and Boston, to do outreach to student groups in person and
online. This position also includes opportunities to connect with national
authorities in diversity issues, and to interface with leaders in the
performing arts.

Applicants must be current undergraduate or graduate students, friendly,
communication-savvy, detail-oriented, and able to work independently. STEM
majors or STEM grad students preferred. Part-time commitment of 10
hours/week starting immediately and continuing through April 19, 2019, with
possibility to extend. Hourly compensation is $15 an hour. *All applicants
must submit a resume and a cover letter stating what especially interests
