*3. Trouble in the Lab: Cultivating Leadership for Positive Social Change *

Join the Bok Players for a night of interactive theater discussing:

- Gender-based discrimination and harassment

- Management and leadership skills

- Conflict resolution and tension in lab spaces

- Communication

- Social and personal skills

Reception, dinner, and raffle including a $50 Amazon gift card following
the one hour show.

Co-sponsored by GWAMIT and the Bok Players from Havard. The Bok Players’
mission is to use theatre as an interactive, dynamic learning tool in
academic culture. They strive to help make the academic world open and
accessible- a place where all have an equal chance to succeed- through the

*4. **[Postdoctoral Associate] Yoga Class Series *

*When:* Wednesdays, May 11th - June 29th, 7:30pm

*Where:* MIT Building 37 or building 16

Postdoctoral Associate is conducting yoga class series regularly and the
next one is starting on April 27. This will be taking place on Wednesdays,
at 7:30 pm on campus (building 37 or building 16). A rate for postdocs and
their MIT Spouses & Partners is offered for a 10 class session for $80.
This is a gentle all-level relaxing yoga class and no prior experience is
required.

The classes will take place on the following dates:

May 11, May 18, May 25, June 1, June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29

This is a reminder that there are two study breaks taking place in the
Margaret Cheney Room this month.

The second study break will take place Monday, May 16 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
in the Cheney room. Again, light desserts, coffee, and tea will be provided.

Feel free to stop by and take a break from this busy time of year!



*7. MIT Women’s League Annual Meeting*

The Women's League holds its annual meeting in May to report on its
activities and business over the past academic year to members and to
introduce returning Board Officers and present new officers for the
election slate.

It's also an occasion to hear from a guest speaker. This year Melissa
Nobles, the Kenan Sahin Dean of the School of Humanities, Arts and Social
Sciences, and Professor of Political Science will be our guest speaker.

To reserve your place at the annual meeting and lunch, contact the League

The cost of the luncheon is $15.00. Seating is limited.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the MIT Work-Life Center’s Spring
2016 Seminar Series. Our presenters, who are experts in their fields, will
share research-based strategies, tips, and information on more than 25
topics, including changing how you respond to stress; supporting your
child’s emotional and intellectual development; understanding the U.S.
college admissions process; navigating life as a young professional; and
learning how to help an aging family member.

All seminars are free of charge and open to the entire MIT community and
their families; however, registration is required.

We believe these seminars and workshops will help MIT community members
find better balance in their professional and personal lives, and
appreciate your help in communicating this information to the broader MIT
community.

This event is our annual Spring Social co-hosted by MASS AWIS and WPI AWIS
Affiliate. It is geared for women and men within the scientific community
(from undergrads to mid-career levels) who are interested in developing
their strategic networking skills in an interactive workshop.

Networks are an essential element to a successful career in any field.
Today we are fortunate to have great face-to-face networking opportunities
as well as easy to use digital tools that can extend relationships beyond
an initial meeting. No more passive business card exchanges, participants
at this workshop will learn modern techniques for building and expanding
their networks to support their career goals.

Mari Anne Snow is founder of Sophaya, a start-up dedicated to building
modern products and services for organizations with virtual teams and
remote professionals. Mari Anne has experienced first-hand the critical
power of a well-cultivated network and she is a strong advocate of
investing time and effort to build and maintain one for long term career
success.

Refreshments will be served. Registration is limited to 60 people.
