**1. Applications open for this year's GWAMIT Mentoring Program for Graduate
Women (Due: Sun. Aug 14)*

*Applications are now open* for women graduate students to be mentored by a
female faculty/alum in the *GWAMIT Mentoring Program*.



Mentorship can be sought in areas ranging from careers to more personal
matters. Grad women mentees are responsible for meeting with their mentor
each month for a minimum of 1 hour and attending a beginning-of-term and
end-of-year dinner. Your commitment to the program would last one semester
at which point you can choose to continue and/or be rematched.

GWAMIT and Women's & Gender Studies are teaming up to organize a creative
feminist event series for 2011-12. We're envisioning a "this is what a
feminist looks like" campaign with a unique MIT twist, engaging our culture
of creativity and hosting brilliant speakers with smart and sassy ideas.

Have you ever wanted to ask your favorite female professor how she does it
all?  The grants, the lab meetings, the kids, the institute service - and
still manages to look good doing it?

If so - now is your chance!  Be a part of the 2011 Path of Professorship
Planning Team!  As a member you will get guaranteed acceptance to this
year's Path of Professorship Workshop, as well as the opportunity to suggest
and network with your favorite female faculty members.   Path of
Professorship is MIT''sbootcamp for the secrets of success of female faculty
members - a day and a half of sessions, lectures, meals, contacts and
information on how to succeed along the road to academia.  See

Commitments include one kick-off meeting at the end of August, two one hour
meetings in September and October, as well as help during the October 28th -
29th Path of Professorship (oh yes - and a love of cookies - since there
will be some at meetings).

Lauren Celano – founder and CEO at Propel Careers – will give a short
presentation about how to write a good resume. Then we will break up into
small groups and experienced recruiters will review the resume of each
participant.

This workshop will help make your CV/resume suitable for your next position
or for a change to industry. If you are looking to stay within the academic
track, you also can get help with your academic CV. If you are as yet
undecided about your career path, come and get advice on both options.

6. Students Active for Ending Rape [SAFER]: Seeking Candidates for Campus
Accountability Project Fellow

Students Active for Ending Rape (SAFER) is seeking candidates for our Campus
Accountability Project (CAP) Fellowship. CAP invites
college students to become advocates by researching their schools' sexual
assault policies, and finding out what their schools are doing
to prevent and respond to sexual assault.

The CAP Fellowship will run from mid-August through December. The Fellow
should expect to work for 10 to 15 hours a week. The position pays $3500.

The CAP Fellow will increase submissions to our Campus Sexual Assault Policies
Database and help catalyze movements for sexual assault policy reform
nationwide by:

       * Designing and implementing two creative online organizing campaigns
encouraging student submission to CAP
       * Helping to organize and carry-out a $10,000 online fundraising
campaign
       * Working with relevant SAFER Board members to develop new outreach
strategies
       * Coordinating with our web developer on any necessary website
alterations
in conjunction with the campaigns
       * Utilizing all social media platforms in collaboration with
our Communications
team to further the campaigns
       * Assisting with publicity for the online campaigns
       * Reviewing campus sexual assault policy submissions

       Strong Fellowship Candidates will have:

       * Successfully carried out online organizing campaigns
       * Demonstrated experience with social media platforms and online
communications
       * Creative and innovate ideas for engaging student activists online
       * Video and audio editing skills
       * Strong writing skills
       * The ability to work independently with limited supervision
while remaining
organized and detail-orientated
       * Experience in social justice activism. Experience in the anti-violence
movement is a plus.

We hope to fill this position by mid-August and applications will be
