Today Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo! announced an initiative to make MSN
Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger compatible with each other.

Although I have asked some people from Internet2 and the Common Solutions
Group about their interest in drafting a joint letter to Google regarding
Google Talk's inability to communicate with other Jabber systems, I have not
yet received a response. Perhaps the above news will help to motivate some
of our peers.
