[WinPartners] For Windows Users: IS&T Announces Support for VMware Workstation 9

Good Afternoon,

Information Services and Technology (IS&T) is pleased to offer full support for VMware Workstation 9 for Windows. Workstation 9 lets Windows  users install and manipulate supported operating systems in a virtualized environment.

The new features of Workstation 9 can be viewed on VMware's website<https://www.vmware.com/support/ws90/doc/workstation-90-release-notes.html>.
MIT faculty, staff, and students can download Workstation 9<http://ist.mit.edu/vmware-workstation> (certificates<http://ist.mit.edu/certificates> required) from IS&T's website free of charge.

The minimum system requirements for Workstation 9 are as follows:

  *   64-bit x86 CPU
  *   LAHF/SAHF support in long mode
  *   1.3GHz or faster core speed

Installation instructions can be found in the Knowledge Base<http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/display/istcontrib/VMware+Workstation+9.0.x+for+Windows+-+Installing+or+Upgrading>. Note that the VMware Workstation 9 installer uninstalls VMware Workstation 8 first. All existing Virtual Machine images will be preserved during the upgrade to Workstation 9.
