This is all true. We still have clients (or did the last time we revisited the
decision to use the old c:\users\<username>\ hierarchy) that need the existing
setup. It may be that we can migrate from that, but it involve a decent amount
of time on our part to handle the migration and examine all the use scenarios.
When/if we release a new version of Eudora (6.3.x or higher) we will look at
this again. We'd be interested in hearing from anyone who particularly
requires the multiple users under one account scenario that we are using right
now.

For administrators who would like to bypass the wizard, I have provided a
transform that you can deploy with the MSI, or apply permanently here:

<http://itinfo.mit.edu/article.php?id=7647>

This will suppress the installation and running of the Settings Wizard. This
way users will simply run Eudora and create a Eudora folder under Application
Data. The settings wizard will also work with existing user folders under
Application Data, so using the MIT installers going forward will work as
expected (unless you don't want to take the MIT defaults). If you don't want
the MIT default settings for SMTP authentication and the like, you can also use
the Admin tool listed on the same page as the No Wizard Transform:

<http://itinfo.mit.edu/article.php?id=7647>

It gives the user finer-grained controls over what settings are applied, and
allows the administrator to add custom settings as well. This should work on
directories containing single Eudora Folders as well as network shares
containing hundreds of users. Just point it at your Application Data\Qualcomm\
directory (or wherever) and give it a try.

As always, any suggestions and comments are welcome and we will do our best to
incorporate them into future versions of the installer.

Thanks,
Atticus
