Good Afternoon!

IS&T is pleased to announce the release of Eudora 6.2.1 for Windows. This version of Eudora addresses a security issue that affects all previous versions of Eudora for Windows. Additionally, it is the first version of Eudora configured to use IMAP as the default e-mail protocol. Existing POP users are encouraged to upgrade to the IMAP protocol. Please note that IS&T plans to release the newest version of Eudora for Macintosh after the Eudora Release Team has tested it on the soon-to-be-released Mac OS X 10.4 Operating System (Tiger).

Notable features:
--------------------------
-fixes a security vulnerability found in all previous versions of Eudora for Windows
-Eudora is configured to use IMAP as the default e-mail protocol
-enhanced IMAP functionality
-Eudora is now configured to use SSL by default for receiving and sending mail
-improvements to filters under IMAP
-improved SSL support
-support for deployment in the Windows Domain and tools for large-scale user migration and customization

Known issues:
---------------------------
-the first time you check e-mail using IMAP, you may not see your inbox
-hesiod Support for IMAP on Eudora 6.2.1 does not work consistently
-Eudora sometimes thinks there's an Internet connection when in fact there isn't
-Eudora doesn't have dual monitor support

We encourage all current Eudora for Windows users to upgrade to Eudora 6.2.1.  Eudora 6.2.1 for Windows can be downloaded from the MIT Software Download site: http://web.mit.edu/software/.  Please note that you need a current personal certificate to download this software. If you do not have a current personal certificate, then you can obtain one from https://ca.mit.edu/ .
