The week-before-last, the Coeus database server was upgraded from Oracle 8 
to Oracle 9.  We are seeing occasional problems with Coeus accessing the 
database server.  While the Coeus team continues to work directly with the 
troubled user, I wanted to let you know of the problem in case you are 
asked for assistance.

The message a user encounters is: "Logon to Coeus Failed. ORA-12599: 
TNS:cryptographic checksum mismatch".

In every case, the user was still using the old Oracle 7.3 client instead 
of the 9i client.  Uninstalling the Oracle 7.3 and installing the 9i client 
resolves this problem.

The software release page located at:  http://web.mit.edu/software/win.html 
has the tools to remove the old 7.3 client and the new 9i client is 
available.
