[WinPartners] anyone know about AVG Antivirus?

I've not used it long-term, but I've installed AVG Anti-Virus from Grisoft on
machines as a favor for friends who didn't qualify/couldn't afford a full-blown
license. That said, the price of anti-virus software isn't too much (even
though I despise the subscription model for updates), so it'd be one place
where you might want to actually spend the money while looking at open-source
and/or free alternatives for other applications/uses. Some distributors also
sell discounted previous versions of anti-virus software; while the engine may
not be the latest, I usually find one version prior of something like Norton AV
tends to be decent and as long as it is updated regularly, it could be OK in a
low-risk environment.

There is also Avast Home Ed, see
http://www.avast.com/eng/programs.html

and AntiVir Personal Edition at
http://www.free-av.com/

Neither of which have I actually used for any length of time. YMMV.
