I think you’re right, Jay. I’d look at the front page caching. Jiggle the handle on the WP Super Cache plugin.

Here’s the header I see for the front page:

HTTP request status: 200 (OK)
Name Value
Date Tue, 08 Nov 2016 15:01:05 GMT
Content-Encoding gzip
WP-Super-Cache Served supercache file from PHP
Vary Accept-Encoding,Cookie
Content-Type text/html; charset=UTF-8
Cache-Control max-age=3, must-revalidate
Connection Keep-Alive
Keep-Alive timeout=5, max=100
Content-Length 124
Server Apache/2.2.31

And here it is for the /about/academics page:

HTTP request status: 200 (OK)
Name Value
Date Tue, 08 Nov 2016 15:03:06 GMT
X-Pad avoid browser bug
Last-Modified Tue, 08 Nov 2016 14:03:28 GMT
Server Apache/2.2.31
Vary Accept-Encoding,Cookie
Content-Type text/html; charset=UTF-8
Cache-Control max-age=3, must-revalidate
Accept-Ranges bytes
Content-Encoding gzip
Content-Length 4466
Expires Tue, 08 Nov 2016 15:03:09 GMT

I would also suggest disabling plugins one-by-one. Seems like there might be some problem with gzipping?

if you go to any subpage, e.g. http://mathroots.mit.edu/about/academics/, it works fine, and if you navigate back to the homepage from that page it works fine.

For what it’s worth, for me, going to a subpage and then clicking the logo to go back to the homepage brings me to the same error page.

Hi Chris,

In your Admin Settings, what is the Site Address URL? And in your permalinks, what do you see?

Subject: [WebPub] wordpress support?

Hi all —

I’m wondering if anyone on webpub can provide — or knows someone who can provide — some support on a bizarre wordpress bug. We have a wordpress install setup at http://mathroots.etc.mitadmissions.org, and recently had IS&T setup a CNAME sohttp://mathroots.mit.edu resolves to that domain. Now, however, if you go to http://mathroots.mit.edu, the website fails; if you go to any subpage, e.g. http://mathroots.mit.edu/about/academics/, it works fine, and if you navigate back to the homepage from that page it works fine.

I’ve enabled/disabled caching; no change.

This only appears to effect the CNAME homepage. When I go to http://mathroots.etc.mitadmissions.org/ it is fine.

Does anyone have any clue what is going on, or know anyone who can help me fix ASAP?

— Chris
