Just a friendly reminder about our meeting tomorrow, October 14th with Michael Gill, Senior Project Manager, Web Services, Harvard Business School. Also, Michael will have some copies of his book available for purchase.

As usual, we will go out for drinks afterwards at John Harvard’s. If you are unable to make the talk, we invite you to meet us to socialize and exchange stories at John Harvard’s. We’ll be there around 5:15pm, after the talk.

The Process of Communication, A Practical Guide for Project Managers

Communication is not about knowing the process. Communication is about managing the process. A successful project manager communicates effectively by setting and managing expectations throughout the lifecycle of a project and, by doing so, creates redundancy in a fluid industry. The importance of a simple and redundant communication framework cannot be overstated. Referencing my book, The Process of Communication, I will focus on the role of pre-production and the importance of Requirements Gathering, establishing a teams Level of Effort, communicating Assumptions and through the development of these tools establishing a realistic Timeline. I will speak about how all of these deliverables are used to manage clients expectations as obstacles arise and requirements change.

Bio:
Michael has worked for many global digital agencies including SapientNitro and Prodigious Worldwide and he has managed offshore teams from Bengaluru, India to San Jose, Costa Rica. He has over 25 years of experience working for such brands as Harvard Business School – Executive Education, LeBron James, Luxottica, General Motors, XL Capital, MFS, Putnam and Teradyne to name a few.
