Next week on Wednesday, March 11th from 3:30p to 5p we are excited to have Jeff Steward and Steven Waldron from the Harvard Art Museums talk about “Building the Digital Harvard Art Museums.”

Description:
Several years ago the staff at the Harvard Art Museums started to assemble a new suite of digital tools to coincide with the opening of the new museums in November 2014. In this session we’ll talk about the implementation of these tools along with the museums’ aesthetic and design, APIs and the collections databases, and the commingling of the physical and digital experience.

Bios:
Steven Waldron is Creative Director and Head of Design at the Harvard Art Museums. Prior to joining Harvard Art Museums in 2011 Steven spent 8 years as partner and creative director of a design firm with offices in the UK and the US, and 3 years full time in the education and museum sectors. Steven has also served as a member of a college advisory board for design in the UK and has taught design at the largest art and design school in the United States. Most recently, Steven has won two AIGA design awards, a Type Directors Club award, PRINT Magazine design award, and AAM design award for his work at the museums.

Jeff Steward is the Director of Digital Infrastructure and Emerging Technology (DIET) at the Harvard Art Museums. For the past 17 years he has worked at museums with museum data. Some of his work is found at https://vimeo.com/channels/705959.
