Hello MIT WebPub,

We hope you can join us next week, on December 11th with Kathleen Kneram, User Experience Design lead and “pioneer” in user experience design, to talk about Move faster by slowing down and connecting<http://w3.abcd.harvard.edu/ai1ec_event/kathleen-kneram-ux-design/?instance_id=207>:
Many designers miss the opportunity to design the best possible solution because they don’t take the time to make connections and listen to the experts within their reach. From the beginning, designers need to build relationships with business and technology partners and strive to work in a more integrated, interactive, and, dare I say, more agile approach. Only by effectively working with a small group of experts from the user community, business visionaries, and technical innovators can you build the best possible solution.

NOTE: Attendees without a Harvard ID card need to RSVP <mailto:dtremont at oeb.harvard.edu> for entry to the library.

When: December 11th @ 3:30-5:00pm
Title: Move faster by slowing down and connecting<http://w3.abcd.harvard.edu/ai1ec_event/kathleen-kneram-ux-design/?instance_id=207>
Who: Kathleen Kneram
Where: Lamont Library, Forum Room

Thanks!
Donna, Eric and Raman

Speaker’s Background on this Topic
I’ve been called a “pioneer” in user experience design. After initially being dismayed by this label, I agree that I was one of the lonely few designers in the corporate world at the time. Starting my design career in an insurance company’s vast system development organization, user-centered design techniques and complex problem solving came naturally to me. I was soon designing radically more usable and effective systems, and I managed to win-over the most stubborn technical leads and biggest naysayers on the business team. After being wooed into consulting, I worked successfully with the most difficult clients and the most stubborn team members. As the leader of design groups, I have seen the best and worst approaches on projects, and I have helped many designers refine their techniques. I know what works, and what is likely to lead to an epic fail.
