Hi everyone -

Thanks to those of you who passed around links to MITAdmissions when we blacked out the blogs! For those of you who are still not entirely sure what all the fuss was about, or who would like to learn more, I recommend this TED Talk by Clay Shirky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h2dF-IsH0I

Clay is one of the leading people who, well, talk about the Internet for a living. He is lucid, insightful, and always worth listening to.

While SOPA/PIPA have been wounded, as Clay points out they will return again soon. A number of students contacted me on the blackout day to thank us for doing so and asking that the administration do more to take a public stand against this line of bills when the next one comes up. These sorts of bills would truly cripple any digital communications MIT currently undertakes, from office blogs to TechTV to MITx. IMHO it is important that we act accordingly.
