Good morning,

Communication Production Services invites you to attend two seminars on social media: one presented by MIT staff who are actively using social media and the other by a well-known expert on this topic.

Social Media on a Shoestring<http://web.mit.edu/commworkshops/8_sm/8_sm_10.html>
February 29, 2012
10-11:30 a.m.
Location to be provided upon registration<http://web.mit.edu/commworkshops/registration.html>.

Some MIT departments are fully engaged in social media while others may feel they are lagging behind. Join us to learn how social media can benefit your department and how to effectively use your current resources. Stephanie Hatch, MIT's new social media and email marketing specialist, will cover the foundation of social media strategy, tips and tools for using social media with limited staff resources and methods for streamlining your efforts. We'll then hear from Alexa Mills, Andrew Whitacre and Amy Marcott as they share how they've been using social media at MIT.

The Science of Social Media<http://web.mit.edu/commworkshops/8_sm/8_sm_11.html>
March 6, 2012
10:30-11:30 a.m.
Location to be provided upon registration<http://web.mit.edu/commworkshops/registration.html>.

Social media expert Dan Zarrella studies the science of social media behavior with a data-driven focus. He'll tell us about how and why humans have spread content for thousands of years through urban legends, rumors, slang, chain letters and contagious laughter. We'll learn about the characteristics of contagious information and how these examples can be applied to the web. Dan is the author of three books: Zarrella's Hierarchy of Consciousness, The Social Media Marketing Book and The Facebook Marketing Book.

We hope you can join us at these events and look forward to seeing you.

Regards,
Bara
