My team (IS&T DCAD) is interested in updating the IS&T Web Publishing
Reference guide:
http://ist.mit.edu/services/web/reference
I've requested a usability test, and would like help coming up with
the tasks the evaluators would perform. Here's the general idea of
what I need:
- What things do you usually go to the guide for?
- What were the last 3 things you searched for on MIT Google on web
publishing?
- Are there things you'd like to see added?
Keep in mind that we need to just include things about things that are
possible to do here, either on the virtual servers or Athena, or also
just the things (software/services/etc.) that are supported by MIT.
To prep for the testing, I'd love to update some of the content too.
What's your feedback on the following?
- Is anything out of date that I've missed?
- How intuitive are the navigation labels?
- How hard is it to read the content, should it be broken up into
more pages?
Also, would anyone be interested in being a guinea pig for the actual
usability testing? You'd come to N42, and would be in the lab with a
usability consultant. You'd be presented with a list of tasks to
complete, and asked to talk out loud about your thought process. I
would be in a separate room, watching how you navigate through the
tasks. The evaluation usually takes about an hour total.
I probably need about 5 - 7 people.
Thanks,
Lisa
