Hello Webpubbers!

I'm excited for our next meeting, our guest speaker is Kai Gieber from
WGBH interactive. We are also hosting guests from Harvard, members of
their Flash users group will also be in attendance. This is a great
chance to make new friends and share academic experiences! We will
provide snacks and refreshments, and seating is limited (the room
holds 50) so please arrive early to ensure a seat.

Date: Thursday, May 22
Time: Noon to 1pm
Place: N42 - Demo Center (1st floor)
Topic: Making Flash Accessible

More than ever, when Web designers and developers think motion, sound,
and video, they think Flash. While it has proven to be an invaluable
tool for providing dynamic content on the web, it can be a barrier if
that content is not made accessible. Fortunately, Flash has built-in
accessibility features that, with planning and implementation, can
make your content available to a wide range of users.
We will cover the following topics:
- planning for accessibility
- adding captions
- adding accessibility features such as label, tab indexes
- adding text for screen reader users
- user testing

Looking forward to seeing you there!
Lisa
