Yahoo! Pipes….
February 13th, 2007

Yahoo! Pipes is a service that lets you combine different web feeds
to create your own personal aggregate. You pipe data in, then mash it
up…the result is a single rss feed that you created with a few clicks
- no programming knowledge required.

 From their overview page:
Pipes is a free online service that lets you remix popular feed types
and create data mashups using a visual editor. You can use Pipes to
run your own web projects, or publish and share your own web services
without ever having to write a line of code.

Fpr example, YouTunes is a pipe which links the top 10 songs from
iTunes with videos from YouTube. Created by Nick Bradbury, check out
his site for a step by step breakdown on how he did it.

New Web Developer Toolbar
February 13th, 2007

Many of you know and love the web development toolbar, a handy tool
for web producers to make sure their code is up to par with MIT’s Web
Publishing Guidelines. There is a new release available (v1.1.3) on
the chrispederik.com website (http://chrispederick.com/work/
webdeveloper/.)
The Web Developer extension adds a menu and a toolbar to the browser
with various web developer tools. It is designed for Firefox, Flock,
Mozilla and Seamonkey, and will run on any platform that these
browsers support including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

I’ve found this tool to be invaluable when checking sites for code
and accessibility compliance. I highly recommend using it to check if
your own site needs any tweaking.
