Hi folks,
It's finally time for me to head out and give some one else an opportunity
to enjoy life in Williamstown.
The new position posted here:
https://staff-careers.williams.edu/psp/cangate/EMPLOYEE/HRMS/c/HRS_HRAM.HRS_CE.GBL?Page=HRS_CE_JOB_DTL&Action=A&SiteId=1&JobOpeningId=301201&PostingSeq=1
is a bit more humane, now that Nate Wiessner has so ably taken on the
Operations side of what we do. Thus, the position of Theatre Department
Production Manager will now be focused primarily on supporting the 4-6
shows the Department mounts every year, teaching one semester of theatre
production and/or management, and supporting the work of the Department's
Summer Theatre Lab, a 6 week intensive session for our best students under
the creative direction of some of our working alums. There's also
occasional babysitting for a certain Tony-award-winning theatre that we let
use the place from time to time.
The position is listed as a one-year interim appointment because the
Theatre Department is undergoing it's required 10-year review. We wanted
to retain some flexibility in the Production Manager's duties to adapt to
any changes the Department might put into effect. There will always need to
be someone serving as a Production Manager, we're just not sure what
specific flavor will be best after the review process is complete. At
present, the PM side of my job is about 70% of my time, the remainder is
working on productions--typically as ME and/or special projects. This may
not be what suits the next person's suite of skills, but expect to spend
some time working with your hands.
Please don't hesitate to shoot me an email if you have any questions about
the position or life here in the Berkshires. We're looking to get the
search wrapped up this spring, and would like to see the new person here in
July. I'll be around if any sage wisdom is required, but staying away
unless invited. I'll be in the local area, so not adverse to an occasional
load-in or short term project here and there.
Best wishes,
Cosmo
