TLDR: Welcome Back to MIT! Free boba at the Stud today from 3-4:30.

Welcome back and happy first day of school!

As we begin this new academic year, we want to take a moment to reflect on where we've been and where we're headed. Last year brought challenges that tested our community, with moments that highlighted the need for change. We know there’s still a long way to go, so we are committed to keeping the door open for important conversations and actions.

As your student body president, I am deeply committed to learning from the past and moving forward with purpose. The motto, "Dare to Dream, Dare to Do," isn't just a slogan—it's a promise. We are determined to turn the lessons of last year into lasting change that benefits all of us.

This year, we have several exciting initiatives that reflect our renewed commitment to improving student life including:

  * Participatory Budgeting: We are finalizing plans to set aside up to $50,000 for participatory budgeting. This initiative will give you the power to influence how these funds are used to enhance our campus, ensuring that your voice directly shapes the community in which we live.
  * Increased Funding for Diversity-Based Clubs and Organizations: In response to calls for greater support of our diverse student body, we are expanding funding opportunities for clubs and organizations that promote inclusion and celebrate our differences. We believe that diversity is our strength, and we are committed to fostering a campus where everyone feels valued and supported.

  * Renewed Focus on Improving Student Life: Our team is dedicated to making tangible improvements to student life, from better academic policies and rethinking dining to enhanced access to decision-makers on campus. We know that a supportive environment is key to our success, and we are working hard to ensure that MIT is a place where we can thrive. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and brought issues to our attention. We hear you.

Last year's obstacles have only strengthened our resolve to overcome and create a more vibrant, dynamic, and student-centered community. We are here to listen, to act, and to support you every step of the way.

Let’s Move Forward Together

This is a year for rebuilding and reimagining what MIT can be. We encourage you to get involved, share your ideas, and help us continue the work of making our campus a better place for everyone. Together, we can turn the "in spite of's" from the past into the "because of's" from which we'll make a better tomorrow.

Thank you for your trust and partnership. Let's dare to dream big and accomplish great things together.

Love you all,
