Censure of David Spicer

Dear Undergraduates,



The UA Council has voted to censure David Spicer and we are writing to you
to condemn and express our severe disapproval of his actions as they relate
to the postering and chalking campaign to protest the Statement on Freedom
of Expression.



On April 25th, the UA Council voted to mandate a recall election which
allows all of the undergraduate body to voice whether they would like David
Spicer to continue to represent them as UA President. This decision follows
from the rationale that the actions of David Spicer fell short of what is
expected of a UA president, regardless of their intentions.



Per the UA Constitution, David Spicer was forced to surrender his office
until the conclusion of the recall election. In the interim, UA Vice
President, Shruti Ravikumar, will be the acting UA President. All
undergraduates will be receiving an email from the Election Commissioner
with further information on the recall election; a permanent removal of
David Spicer from the role of UA President will occur if two-thirds of
voters vote yes to recall. The UA Council strongly encourages all
undergraduates to vote in this upcoming recall election.
