Hi everyone,

We hope you are having a wonderful IAP! One of the many benefits of being in the Greater Boston Area is having the chance to explore all that the city has to offer. Whether that’s grabbing a meal or exploring local markets or even finding a study spot, public transportation is a quick and convenient way to explore the city around us!



While we hope that access to public transit becomes increasingly accessible to students and workers for mobility and sustainability, we want to make sure it is cheap and accessible to all students. This semester, UA Public Affairs is beginning a pilot program and offering 20 students a free pass for a semester’s worth of MBTA rides<https://www.mbta.com/>.<https://www.mbta.com/>



At the start of the Spring semester, students will be given preloaded t-passes that allow them to use buses, the T, and even the ferry! We hope that through this program students explore the city in an affordable and sustainable manner. We also hope to gain insight into the potential use of public transportation and how further support from MIT or the MBTA in providing students free rides can improve the undergraduate experience.
