Hello Undergraduates,

As many of you know, next weekend is a 4-day weekend, coinciding with CP* and Patriot's Day. For many of you, we recognize that the last four day break in place of Spring Break was not a break at all, and the number of assignments due the day after break limited your ability to truly relax.

These past few weeks, the UA has been working hard to hold faculty and the Institute to prioritizing student mental health for the upcoming holiday weekend (April 17-20). We have advocated with MIT administration and presented<https://www.dropbox.com/sh/kc1e2807mcbtojw/AAA8UxrHK0kQFRcob4TrKPama?dl=0&preview=20210409+Call_Recording.mp4> (begins at 37:45) to faculty and department heads and have made significant progress, most recently influencing Course 8 classes to adjust accordingly for the days following the break, as well as shaping communications to all Institute faculty from upper administration.

Now, we are asking for your help. Although many of your professors have moved the due date or cancelled assignments based on our requests, many haven't. In order to identify and contact the classes causing undue stress on students, we ask that you fill out this form<https://forms.gle/3nZNstdvssgHTQoXA> by Tuesday 4/13 at 11:59 PM if there are particular classes that have not adjusted. Additionally, we encourage you to work with your classmates to email your professors directly. Please find a template here<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BShi9uvYlMUJjX-TgvUh26KnVzlqnwlcMep4IzibGhg/edit?usp=sharing>.

We know that this semester has been difficult and we are committed to leveraging the full force of the UA to support you. If you have any comments or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We want to underscore the importance of you letting us know how we can best support you. At the end of the day, student government is meant to serve you.

Please email ua-break at mit.edu<mailto:ua-breaks at mit.edu> if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Danielle Geathers
