Hey undergrads!
This Sunday, October 11, at 6PM, come join us at our free Get Out the Vote Virtual Festival<http://tinyurl.com/gotv-fest>, featuring headliners and artists like Yo-Yo Ma<https://open.spotify.com/artist/5Dl3HXZjG6ZOWT5cV375lk?si=wZcnOwO6Qt-ZUbCrlUqwMQ> and Bren Joy<https://open.spotify.com/artist/4vZ5UD5pIliRPSdHHj9EUp?si=XTWuIqqdTnuTuPJAQpqr_g>. Stay tuned on our Instagram<https://www.instagram.com/ua_mit/> (@ua_mit) and Facebook<http://tinyurl.com/gotv-fest> for who else is in our line-up!
The Get Out the Vote Festival is MIT’s first ever voter mobilization festival to create momentum in our communities of color to vote, highlighting a variety of artists, performers, speakers, and civic engagement organizations of color. Communities of color are often underrepresented at the polls, due to a variety of reasons including language barriers or systemic voter suppression. This is an event of education, solidarity, and celebration. All are welcome — to listen, to learn, to have some fun!
With the upcoming election, the student vote matters more than ever, especially given the situation with the polls this year. Throughout the event, we will also have on-site voter registration help and voter education material as well as space to speak to civic engagement organizations on the ground. Stay tuned for our full line-up! And don’t forget to register to vote and to read up on your state’s voting laws here<http://mitvote.mit.edu/>!
Want to be part of the festival? Upload a short video about why you choose to vote or to share your voting plan here<https://www.dropbox.com/request/erMacS5FQviCa5EsfFDF> and insert your info here<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13d9fyq1XLLP4SeyTIe31GVS7vhB8NMWvqIOHxYXoHH4/edit?usp=sharing>! You could be featured in what is sure to be the event of the year!
All are welcome, let’s get the highest voter turnout in MIT history!
Brought to you by the Undergraduate Association Committee on Public Affairs, MIT Asian American Initiative (AAI), Latino Cultural Center (LCC), American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), Chinese Students Club (CSC), and MITVote with support from South Asian American Students (SAAS) and Black Students Union (BSU).
Happy voting!
