Hi Undergrads,
Hope October is off to a great start!
The Fall Career Fair Series continues this week with the Healthcare and Tech related events this Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. Learn more here <https://career-fair.mit.edu/2020-for-candidates>.
Reminder for those on campus that the Johnson Athletic Center (W34) is open for COVID testing. MIT Medical is eager to encourage more COVD Pass users to test here given Johnson's large capacity, quick turnaround times, proximity to many residences, and resilience to weather conditions. Johnson is observed self-swab testing, and there are plenty of expert staff on hand to make everything easy!
The Byte is a biweekly UA newsletter to inform undergraduates about what's happening in the MIT community.
The Byte is run by the UA which works to improve your undergraduate experience through policy, projects, and events. We're always happy to listen to your suggestions, concerns, and comments. Learn more at ua.mit.edu <http://ua.mit.edu/>.

Did you know MIT is a member of The Science Coalition? Together with research universities across the country, we’re working to spread the word to Congress about why science matters—and we need your help!
The Science Coalition recently launched its second-annual Fund It Forward Student Video Challenge <https://www.sciencecoalition.org/student-video-challenge-2020/>, which is a great opportunity for students and researchers on campus to get involved in science advocacy and earn cash prizes! The challenge is open now until October 19. The power of a great story can change the world, and now more than ever, it’s important we share the value of science to advocate for increased federal funding for research.
Cash prizes from $500 to $1,000 will be awarded to the top three graduate and undergraduate student winners, with an additional opportunity for finalists to earn more through the People’s Choice Award. You don’t have to be a scientist to enter—if you’re passionate about science, we want to hear from you. It’s time to fund it forward.

Nearly a quarter of Americans report no religious affiliation. Scholars and pundits often discuss the political potential of the religiously unaffiliated, but we know less about whether they actually turn out to vote, what their political views are, and how they organize for change. For Subject 5 of our Course 0 lecture series, University of Massachusetts (Boston) professor Evan Stewart will talk about what we know from latest research on these questions, including his own work studying the “nones,” and how those lessons can help support more effective political mobilization.
