Hi Undergrads,
Sorry to bother you again, I just wanted to correct a small error in my prior email.
There cannot be any assignments due after May 8th for an undergraduate class with a final exam during finals period. This is reflected correctly at the end of the prior email, but was incorrect in the summary section. Sorry for any confusion it may have caused!
Best,
Violations Team

There is a detailed list of these rules and regulations at the end of this email. A brief summary of some of the major ones is here:

> If you believe one or more of your courses are not following these regulations there are several steps that you can take. If you are comfortable doing so, you can talk to the professor directly. You can also report the violation anonymously to the UA or to the Chair of the Faculty. Please reach out as soon as possible. Late in the semester, violations become increasingly difficult to resolve in a manner that is fair to everyone.

If students have not yet been told which it will be, they should either ask the instructor or contact violations at mit.edu <mailto:violations at mit.edu> or exam-termregs at mit.edu <mailto:exam-termregs at mit.edu>
> - The officers have been granting occasional exceptions to allow instructors to offer students a 24-hour window during which they can select the 1 to 3-hour period during which they can take the exam. The following are the rules we are giving with these exceptions:
> **(1) Students may be given a 24-hour time window during which the instructor can arrange that the exam can be released to students for a period of no more than 3 hours, but the specific 3 hours can be chosen by the student. [Note: The period of time is to be the same length as the regular exam was scheduled for. In other words, if the exam was scheduled to be 1.5 hours, that is the length of the period of time permitted, unless a student has previously arranged for special accommodations.]
> **(2) The original Registrar-scheduled exam time must remain available to all students in the subject, so at least that option will not have a conflict.
> **(3) If one or more additional times (within a 24 hour time window of the scheduled exam) are offered to students, it must be made clear to students that they cannot select a time that causes or creates a conflict with another scheduled final exam. The Registrar's Office will not be managing or facilitating conflicts other than within the normal final exam schedule, so this constraint is crucial to avoid knock-on schedule conflicts and final exam chaos.
> **(4) The exam can only be available for the normal length of time (e.g., 1 to 3 hours) for each student, when starting at a flexible or alternative time. This is important so that the exam does not become something akin to a "24 hour take home final" (even if the instructor says to "only work on it for three hours”).
