Hi Undergrads,
How many of you know someone who has gone to bed hungry in the last week
because they can't afford a meal? Statistically, around 13% of undergrads
<http://studentlife.mit.edu/news/food-insecurity-solutions-working-group-releases-findings-and-recommendations>
at
MIT do not have enough to eat. These are your friends, classmates, and
roommates.
No student on campus should ever go to bed hungry. Especially as midterm
season approaches, it becomes harder to make time for yourself. I wanted to
remind everyone to please take care of yourself :)
SwipeShare is a program started last year where students on a meal plan can
donate guest swipes and regular swipes to a pool available for all students
to access.
Last year, your friends and classmates were able to have more than 500(!)
meals free thanks to generous students like you. I hope you will continue
to share your meal swipes to others this semester. To do so, please follow
the instructions here <https://mycard.mit.edu/student/local_donate.php> to
see how many swipes you have available to donate and to donate them. Unused
swipes in the pool will rollover to next semester as well.
If you or someone you know is facing food insecurity, please have them fill
out the meal request form
<https://studentlife.mit.edu/webforms/meal-request-form#overlay-context=>
online
to receive 3 meals per semester or visit an S3 dean in 5-104.
Take care of yourselves,
<3 Kat
