[Undergrads] Henoch Argaw (1998-2017)

Dear Undergraduates,


I’ve struggled to write this email these past few days, and as I walk around campus, nothing feels quite right. Henoch was a friend to many at MIT, myself included. His presence touched living communities in East Campus, Senior House and SAE, and student groups including the Ethiopian-Eritrean Students Association, Bitcoin Club, Skydiving Club, and many more. Henoch was an active member of our MIT family, and his loss is being felt all across our campus, especially by those closest to him.


Times like these can leave us feeling lost, and many of us are experiencing a range of emotions: sadness, guilt, fear, anger. I hope we can all take the time in the next few days to show extra compassion for ourselves and our fellow students. Take time to process this tragedy and reach out to your friends and loved ones.


If you feel you might benefit from support in this difficult time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to campus resources. Folks at Mental Health and Counseling and S^3, as well as our house teams, are here for you. Attached is a comprehensive list of campus resources that explains when and how each service can support you. Again, I encourage you to reach out if you or a friend could use some help processing this news.


As our MIT family mourns a great loss, let us support those who knew and loved Henoch and show kindness to all members of our community.
