Dear Undergrads,

We're excited to announce the Resilience Project, presented by UA Student
Support & Wellness. This initiative aims to highlight and encourage
resilience in the face of adversity within the MIT community.

Our first effort is Portraits of Resilience, a photo/interview series by
Prof. Daniel Jackson. Each installment consists of a portrait and a story,
told in the subject's own words, of how they found resilience and meaning
in their life. Selected excerpts of Prof. Jackson's series will be
published in The Tech weekly during IAP.

The first published portrait and interview of Karen Hao
<http://tech.mit.edu/V135/N36/resilience.html> can be found in the current
copy of The Tech. In addition to raising thought-provoking questions about
MIT culture, her poignant story shows the remarkable wisdom and strength
that emerged in the face of difficult challenges.

Our hope is that these stories will inspire us all by highlighting how
people at MIT cope with adversity and that we are encouraged to seek help
when we need it, from our friends and from MIT resources. At the same time,
these stories offer us a chance to think about how we can all improve our
lives and our community.

If you have your own story to tell, we hope that you will consider
participating. We’re also planning a series entitled Stories of Resilience
consisting of stories that are submitted instead in written form.

For more information or to participate, contact us at
ResilienceProject at mit.edu.

Thank you,
Alice Zielinski and Tamar Weseley
