Undergrads,
Based on feedback received this past weekend about the restructuring
process, a bill was passed in Senate yesterday to create a new UA Committee
on Restructuring. In lieu of a student chair, the committee will have a
faculty facilitator. Membership will also include delegates selected by the
UA Senate, the Dormitory Council, the Interfraternity Council, and the
Panhellenic Association.
Considerations of the committee will include the following:
- meeting with faculty and administrators to gather feedback on the UA
restructuring
- engaging directly with students to ask about what they see as the role of
their student government
- coming up with alternative proposals for the restructuring of student
government
- soliciting restructuring proposals from outside sources
- communicating with students about competing proposals
- deciding how to select and implement a final proposal
I'm optimistic the presence of an experienced faculty facilitator and the
committee's broader scope will result in more productive committee meetings
and ultimately a better model of student government for all undergrads.
Best wishes,
Vrajesh Modi, UA President
