Hi all,

As the end of term approaches, it's important to know what Professors
can require of you according to Institute policy. The UA Student
Committee on Education Policy (SCEP) is working for you!

*After Friday, December 5:*

- No test should be given unless scheduled for finals week through the
Schedules Office (this includes unit tests). You can check here:
http://web.mit.edu/registrar/www/schedules/exams.html

- No assignment may be due in a subject in which there is an exam during
finals week

- Optional assignments due between Friday, December 5 and the last
scheduled class period should be for self-study and should not be used
toward part of the grade, even for extra points or as substitutes for
earlier assignments

- At most one assignment can be due in a class in which there is no
exams during finals week. It must be due by the last regularly
scheduled class (Wed, Dec. 10)

*/Ex camera/ (take-home) final examinations:*

- should be scheduled through the Schedules Office (see link above)

- should be offered over the course of a single afternoon --- starting
at 1:30 P.M. and ending no later than at 7:30 P.M. should permit
students unrestricted use of resources.

A student may be excused from a scheduled final examination for reasons
of illness or significant personal problems. Undergraduates should
contact a dean in Counseling and Support Services
(web.mit.edu/counsel/www <http://web.mit.edu/counsel/www>) if they wish
to seek an excused absence.
