Hello lovely Grogoites,
Once we finish the second-round proofs this week, we will be officially
DONE with *Technique 2012*! Woo! It will be completely out of our hands
until the moment the books arrive from the publisher and are physically in
our hands.
That means that it is time to elect a *brand new shiny Manboard for **Technique
2013*! Every single position is up for grabs - *nothing carries over from
year to year, and anybody can run for any position*. Everybody is welcome
(and encouraged!) to attend elections on *Saturday, March 17th*, but only
current Manboard members get to vote.
There are lots of awesome perks to being on Manboard - in addition to the
obvious say in club governance, you get a key to the equipment cabinet so *you
can check out equipment for yourself any time you want, *free access to the
photo printer, first pick for cool photo opportunities (Bill Gates, Obama,
Mark Zuckerberg, Ben Folds, etc), and other stuff I can't think of off the
top of my head. It's a pretty sweet gig.
There are also varying degrees of involvement on Manboard - something like
Orders Tsar is pretty low-key, requiring a lot of work in May during
distribution and only a few hours a month otherwise, while the big
positions like Editor in Chief or Design Editor require much more
involvement throughout the entirety of the year. That involvement comes
with great experience, though - when you start looking for jobs companies
LOVE to hear about experience working on teams and managing people and
budgets.
Feel free to ask me or any other current Manboard member about anything -
we'll be around during the regular meeting on Saturday, but also feel free
to email us individually. I've included a list of positions below with the
person currently holding that position (you can also find it online at
http://technique.mit.edu/wiki/Manboard ). * The exact positions may shift a
bit (and some may be added) but these are a good baseline.*
See you all on Saturday!
Nick
