We added two positions to the Managing Board today! These two positions
will be up for election, along with the rest, next Saturday:
Technology Director (aka Script Kiddie)
Responsible for maintaining servers and major dealings with the office
computers. Deals with IST regarding the W20 network, IP addresses,
etc. Responsible for online systems, such as the orders database, and
the Technique website. Responsible for keeping the online credit card
and TechCASH systems working and raking in the bucks. Responsible for
thinking long term regarding technology purchases. Encouraged to find
innovative ways to solve Technique's time-consuming problems (scripts!
omgwtfbbq we need people to write scripts!).
Operations Manager
Co-responsible for checkout and signin of photographic gear, with the
photography editors. Responsible for assisting the Technology Director
in maintaining office computers and networking. Maintains consumable
supplies in the office. Assists the Managing Editor and EIC in keeping
the office in workable condition. Responsible for dealing with
Facilities regarding repairs and installations. May be delegated other
jobs by the Managing Editor or Editor In Chief.
Also, TWO positions are now PAID:
-Living Group Editors are now paid for a job well done. The LG Editors
will split $30 per LG for the 41st-thru-50th LG, and will split $70 per
LG for the 51st-thru-60th LG; no additional money after the 60th LG.
This means: getting 40 LGs in the book will get you $0, getting 50 will
get you $300, and getting 60 will get you $1000.
-The Orders Tsar is now paid $300 for the year. The Editor In Chief has
the ability to revoke the salary if the Orders Tsar is derelict in
his/her duties.
These tasks are being salaried because of their tedious nature. The
amounts were purposely kept somewhat small, to emphasize the fact that
we want individuals to join the managing board for the fun of being a
part of Technique, NOT to make money. Keep this in mind if you read
this email with dollar signs $$$ in your eyes!
See you next Saturday,
Dave

> that list.
>
> You are welcome to email me (dtemp at mit.edu), the top leading members
> (technique at mit.edu), or any other managing board member and ask them
> any questions you may have! Ask us what a particular position is
> like, how much of a time commitment it takes, etc. For a list of all

> I'd also ask all current Managing Board members to email anyone that

> How it works:
> 1) You show up at the meeting next Saturday
> 2) You get nominated for a position, or nominate yourself
> 3) You talk for a minute about why you like the position
> 4) You answer a couple of our questions
> 5) You leave the room for a couple minutes, and we talk about you in
> private :) and vote
> 6) You come back in the room and learn your fate
> 7) Either way, you come out to dinner with us after the meeting :)
>
> So, get thinking!
