I didn't read any restrictions on citizenship. Instead of claiming that only
US citizens can compete in the championships, she should send a link to the
rules she read. The rules state that all competitors have to provide proof
of their legal status in the US, which is NOT the same thing as foreigners
can't compete. I guess US competitors have to show a passport.

Don't take my word there aren't citizenship restrictions. Everybody can read
them.
