In response to Shahrukh's comment about the "Campeonato Mundial":

I would suggest you log on to the website" www.tangoloversguide.com.   
It includes a calendar of tango events going on in BsAs during the  
month of August.  They are chronologically listed.  Many would  
qualify as intimate venues.  Some are free.  All are entertaining and  
put you in touch with tango sung, danced, and listened to by Porteños.
