[Tango-L] How tango is sung

The Buenos Aires Herald (the English newspaper of B.A.) has a recent article on Tango singers.  
 
It also mentions women singers and the period when some of them dressed as men in order to sing.

"With all due respect to the members of the fair sex, singing tango is mostly a man’s business, even if many tangos have been written for women. 
 
Indeed, some (Azucena Maizán, la Ñata Gaucha, Virginia Luque) actually donned male apparel when they sang tango and many others (susana Rinaldi, Marikena Monti, María Volonté, Tita Merello, Susy Leiva, etc.) are as good as men, often better."
