Although I have already replied to this thread I thought more about why I like the chat time between songs within a tanda. I also like the eye contact. Argentine men have a way of looking deeply into one's eyes - whether it is passing on the street, across a cup of coffee, or doing a simple business negotiation. It may or may not be sexual, but it is certainly intimate. And when one has just danced a tango and there are more coming, it deepens the connection and the feeling of partnership and sharing of a moment; when I, as a follower, feel that I am not just 'someone' that he is dancing with, but THE SOMEONE he wants to be dancing with. I feel cherished. I feel cared for. I am trusting. I give myself to him for another three minutes.
The tango doesn't start with the music. It starts with the look of the cabeceo, the greeting kiss and then the embrace.
