First off, in open embrace, pay attention to your left
foot and pay attention to very new leaders. It is
easy to see there. You can learn a lot by watching new
dancers. Many have the same problems.

Okay, here goes. Let's see if I can describe this by
email with no visuals ...

WALK LIKE A HOMOSAPIEN

Do this exercise:

As you walk, swing your arms so that:

- your right hand swings forward to the point that it
is between your eyes and your left foot. That is,
when you look at your left foot out in front of you,
you see your right hand instead of your foot.

- your left hand swings forward to the point that it
is between your eyes and your right foot. That is,
when you look at your right foot out in front of you,
you see your left hand instead of your foot.

Now, do the exercise putting tortion into your body.
Put your shoulders into it.

Now, with a follower in front of you, in open embrace,
do the exercise. No, you can't see your hand or your
foot. And, no you shouldn't be looking down. But,
you know, from the first exercise, how your body is
aligning.

Make sure you are keeping your left foot in line. You
know, the two ski tracks. It's always your left foot
that will stray off the track. Now, remember! You
only get those two ski tracks!

NOW, get your mind off of yourself and on to your
partner ...

I am not going to go into detail, here, to explain
this in great detail, but, here is what you want to
do:

You want to "make your follower have proper followers
technique". You want to make her walk in the two ski
tracks. You want to make her extend her leg back.

Trust me, you CAN get her to have proper technique by
understanding your body as described above.

The tortion that you put into your body transfers into
hers.

Keeping your left foot and right hand lined up, and
using your tortion, you will force her right foot to
go to the correct place. And, visa versa for the
other foot. You can make both of you walk in two
tight ski tracks.

YOU CAN MAKE HER HAVE PROPER FOLLOWERS TECHNIQUE.

Yes, I DO do this when I dance. But, I do it in a
very light way. When my partner says that I am very
exact, it is because (1) I made her have great
followers technique and (2) she already has great
followers technique. :o)

I can take a beginner, even a complete newbie, and
make her walk in two narrow ski tracks.

Okay. Now, move this technique along to your close
embrace.

Now, you can see that Argentine tango really IS a
walking dance! Walk like a homosapien!
