1 - I never said that Tango was a man-only dance/world TILL POSSIBLY THE 
1920-30S.
so please do not make me say things I did not say.  I said 'In the 
beginnings' tango was a dance of men only and the tango lyrics related to 
that male world.

2- you claimed that Mercedes Simone dressed as a man to create a "theatrical 
character" the same as a Paraguayan appeared dressed as an indian to create 
the illusion of a real Paraguayan Indian.

Now you finally discovered that many women in tango dressed as men including 
Mercedes Simone.

But continue studying and you will discover that in Spanish Literature there 
was a tradition of women appearing dressed as men as one of the main 
characters of comedies. There were probably hundreds of such comedies in the 
Siglo de oro (One hundred years of gold) of spanish Literature.

Azucena Maizani due to a misunderstanding was not well received during her 
first appearence dressed as a man. People showered vegetables on her during 
her performance but at the following day when everything became clear they 
returned to the theater for a secon performance and covered her with 
flowers.

The public was used to this type of appearences, creating an illusion.

Particularly writers like Lope de Vega an even Cervantes (the creator of Don 
Quixote) included women dressed as men in their works.
